What's with the "Posting Screenshots of Chats" and then made a content of it?
I don't know if this is a very recent occurrence, but it seems like there are more and more social media post emerging locally, where people would put a screenshot of a condescending chat (that I assumed it should be private) then make an entire new narratives about how that same person just 'become more successful". I'd like to believe that there is more to the actual real 'life'.
The message of the social post isn't really new - basically the idea of 'being perceived as successful when no one else seems to believe in you. So you do it out of spite'. It's a good story to tell, that you can have the choice to do the thing you have always wanted. I am not really against the idea of the story/narrative, but at the same time I don't tend to latch onto it that much because in my experience, the other people tend to forget and they are already a different person anyway at this point.
But what if the narrative was included a private chat in a social media post?
For me personally, I don't have any issue with retelling how a person treated you in your own words. But if it included an actual private chat, then it feels as if someone else would screenshot my chat with anyone and then used against me - although the person censored my name on the chat.
Personally, I feel much more unsafe with this becoming more apparent. It's like, as if people are waiting for the shoes to drop to their own advantage. It's one thing to hold people accountable, but this is an entire different narrative.
I'm not here to calling anyone out, but I think it's good for me (and hopefully you too) to be aware of how icky that it is happening a lot more.
There is not really a conclusion to this more spontaneous blog post really. It's really unfortunate that we cannot really control the behaviour of other people. I'm fortunate my own friends never did this to me .Maybe it's one perk of being under the radar most of the time.
