Robynbird Garage Side - The Blog

What does my Bearblog Mean - A reflection

It's been over 6 months since I started posting on my bearblog, and I think it's good time for a bit of reflection - Like reminding myself of the roots.

Bearblog post as a response to the update of tumblr as a website blog, and social platform enshittification

I started bearblog shortly after I was frustrated with how Tumblr website as a blog, and the mobile app feels more of an Instagram with reels and such.

While I understand that social platform UI/UX part is designed as a response to the current lifestyle of the user, the point of me using tumblr at this point was to escape both Twitter and Instagram.

I do not need those unecessary, reel button, and I just want to follow creators that I follow. Not the one who I never follow. If there is a creator I want to see their post from, I'd have followed them in the first place.

Bearblog is a good blogging platform, reminds me of the old school blog site. It does exactly what I wanted, there is not really an algorithm to push or force onto me unless I click the "Discover" tab

I wanted to provide a more human-made blog, hopefully more art resource that feels more hodgepodge and more goblin-like.

I know this side garage blog of mine is really all over the place, and there is no clear focus - That is really the point. This is my experimental, drafting place. This is really my safe space to post anything - my own thoughts, art doubts etc. Even more experimental project goes here.

In a physical library analogy, this bearblog is like every single book and zines being put randomly not in a very organized way on many shelves. Finding things would be harder of course with no sorting by category, however you might find something you wanted as you had something in mind to search for.

It really reminds me of the moment where you pay more attention as a human when you think about it, subsconsciously or consciously.

But of course, if something didn't go well exactly what I wanted when I write in this blog, it will be hidden away by these many other blog entries. It's like... "Oh one thing didn't work out? Time to just overload this blog with more of my human-made writing entry!"

Looking back, it is really fun to do it. I would post any writing I wanted whether it makes sense or not, well I can always not share it while allowing it to exists at the same time. I don't really want to delete anything that is published in this blog. It is also my own way to fill my time not scrolling on instagram and honestly? It works!

I swear, the keyboard typing sound is very satisfying!

Point being, I will be continuing posting more on my Bearblog without pressure because I believe that I will come back to it regardless. I don't need any consistency to please any algorithm. I am trusting myself that I will go back to it and people will resonate with my blog entry as I share them.

That's all for my bearblog post, thank you for reading and I'll see you on the next one!
