Practicing Feeling "Enough" about Owning current Goods We Already Have

I have been collecting, playing and owning Tamagotchi since 2006 - and yes that young, and it has always been part of my life. Although some of the older Tamagotchi just got lost somewhere in the deep dark of my childhood drawer.

Something that I noticed is that the way the business tactics is being used actually allows us to think of "scarcity mindset" and it's just getting worse. It is one thing that the quality of the Tamagotchi is improving or is really that good that I am personally feeling it is worth fighting for, but I see more faulty assembly since Tamagotchi Smart in 2020.

Not to mention nowadays that Tamagotchi is being marketed also through social media influencer that actually creates an illusion of "Hey everyone is playing Tamagotchi, you are missing out!" And I admit that I am afraid of missing out because I am a very long time fan!

Full disclosure, this is just my experience as a consumer and this is not in any way to call out the product or the company at all. This is just a personal analysis and experience that I have throughout the years and this should not hinder anyone to buy Tamagotchi. If the budget allows it, you do you!

In the Tamagotchi Paradise - the quality of the screen is easy to be scratched although just bought within few days and the shell material feels as if it was made as the same material and color as my colorful plastic pail. And the fact that my Tamagotchi Smart ended up having a software bug because I forgot to charge it that I had to replace it with soldering iron, is actually making me concerned about the future of the product itself as a long-time fan and consumer.

So as a long-time fan of Tamagotchi, what do I do now since I can't control the outcome of Future Tamagotchi releases quality?

Here's an idea what I had: Play the current ones I had.

It sounds like a commonsense, but I tend to forget that purchasing and owning many Tamagotchi means I have to consider my lifestyle around playing it too.

A fun question to ask is this: If I buy more new Tamagotchi, will I be able to play with the current ones I have or will they just be stored forever in the my drawer never to be seen?

This is why people who like play mobile games like Candy Crush and elaborate PC games like the Elden Ring have entirely different lifestyle - People who play Candy Crush may think that they play the game to fill their time for few minutes, while people who play Elden Ring are dedicated to repeatedly try again at hardcore level until they finish the game.

And I'd like to think that having Tamagotchi will complement my busy life, and owning the current one is already doing its job that just chasing the FOMO.

I started writing this blog post because I really want to hold myself accountable to not buy Tamagotchi on an impulse again and practice feeling enough of what I have in my Tamagotchi collection.

I hope you enjoy this post, I'll see you on the next one!
