July Reminder - Reason to not Buy another New Book/Artbook (Scarcity Mindset)
This is more of a reminder to myself so that I can just delay my impulsive buying habit to not buy a new artbook that I shall not mention specifically. This is not saying if I am hopping to the trend, it's more like pointing out I'm buying more than I am reading and it is quite a problem.
There is this "scarcity mindset" of how there will be things selling out. "It will be sold out fast so grab quickly otherwise you'll regret your whole life" and that actually pushes me to buy more than I actually enjoying the things I'm buying.
I often asked myself: "Ok then what happened if you truly missed the opportunity/don't buy the thing? Is your day to day life gonna be different?"
I'd say no because the artbook itself is published by big publisher in Japan. So there will be always reprint anyway for years. So there is no need to rush.
This also happened when there is an order announcement for a character figure I like that I decided to just not buy due to the lack of space I have.
What happened when I actually missed the opportunity to buy? Nothing much, other than I saved tons of money for things that I truly need!
Plus, I can focus on the making more figurines I like than actually being on constant scarcity mindset. Or the crafting, really. Like the whole thing of 'the buying is the hobby, not actually using the thing".
When everything feels like coming and going away very rapidly, I think I am slowly accepting the fact that I do not want to live in that way my whole life too.
