I'm trying my best to navigate this unfairness
This is a spontaneous blog post that I feel like i need to put it out there.
I'm trying my best to navigate this unfairness where people would spread the narrative of when people have been working in one workplace and as if 'not moving' through the ladder for as long as they live, it's perceived as 'not wanting to grow your skill', and therefore it's bad. Why is it that the idea of wanting more is the only way to live a life? You are missing out more in life if you are always for striving more and never take a breather to just live every moment.
"Look at that person, the person cannot move in their own career just because of how they couldn't afford higher education", honestly that's just unfair. If the person is capable of doing the good work, then why the education background should be perceived as their biggest friction? Is people just creative narrative lie in this bubble that I noticed it immediately that's just not true? In this day and age, people who are willing to work and just do the job is also a good thing - you don't have to be 'passionate' in your job that it become your identity. You are much more than you are in a workplace - you can be a good friend, a good person regardless of how other people perceive you at work.
I am choosing the path in which I refuse to make a job part of my identity, as if my entire life relies entirely on this workplace. I can opt out, at least part of it. I am protecting so much of my creative work, I am just doing the bare minimum so that I can just do my art stuff for sale- zines and so on. I refuse to buy into the narrative that 'being comfortable' means something is wrong with you - that is a lie that made me frustrated. When you are comfortable in your life, it doesn't mean that you are lazy - means you can do more in what you love to do! I have done it and I did wayyyyyyyyy more than my previous job!
Unfortunately I am living in the country in which union is perceived as bad because it's only reserved for the people working in factory, and not the white-collar jobs. My parents throughout generations also taught me this. That is just plain wrong, but fortunately the amounts of works that Unions have done actually did make our workplace better too - the working condition usually accumulates although I cannot join the union myself. The only thing I can do is just to protect my creative work time.
In a country and a world where people within the family demanded you to prove your worth as an artist so that people can convince their parents - I want to let my future self to know that you don't have to do it. You know that you are capable of convincing yourself and actually making it happen without having to prove to anyone else. It will be very lonely, but know that there are people who support you too.
You got this, you can do more with the idea of "What if you can actually make it happen" than solely from scarcity mindset and fear.
I believe in you, future self. I will buuld the very foundation for you to move forward.
